Political bargaining over division of powers between Vetevendosje (VV) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has ended successfully, as main conditions have been accepted by both parties,  Gazeta Metro reports today.

Gazeta Metro underlines that the offer of the LDK has been accepted by the leader of VV, Albin Kurti.

Kurti accepted that his future partner will manage the speaker of the Assembly post, the post of the president and 5 ministries. This practically means that Mr. Konjufca will no longer be Speaker of the Assembly.

On the other hand, Vetevendosje will take over the post of the Prime Minister, the first Deputy Prime Minister and five ministries, Gazeta Metro reports.

It remains unknown whether Mr. Kurti has persuaded Lista Srpska and other minorities for voting his government, considering that deputy Dude Balje, from the Bosnian community, declared that she will not vote for Kurti’s Government.

Otherwise, Mr. Kurti has accepted the LDK’s offer in order to form the new government of Kosovo, after he accepted obligation to do so as the mandatee. This obligation was issued by country’s President, Hashim Thaci. The new government thus needs to be voted by the Kosovo Assembly no later than on February 3.

Kurti’s move to accept the LDK offer and renounce its former principles comes amid numerous demands from citizens for seeing him as Kosovo’s prime minister.

121 days have passed since the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo voted for change. Over 400,000 citizens voted for VV and the LDK to lead Kosovo.
