Following the meeting with the leader of VV, Albin Kurti, President Thaci stated that he has given the latter 48-hours extra time in order to nominate a candidate for the prime minister.

Even though Mr. Kurti, hold a media conference following the meeting with Thaci, he didn’t mention such a deadline. He just pointed out that the meeting was consultative with no legal effect, Periskopi reports.

“I just had a brief meeting with the leader of Vetevendosje Movement , Albin Kurti, in an effort to implement the October 6 general election result.

The first important step, that of the constitution of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, already happen, and I once more congratulate the members of the Assembly of Kosovo for this achievement.

The need to form a government is now vital for the state and for the citizens of Kosovo. Mr. Kurti was not ready today to offer a nominee from Vetevendosje Movement.

As a President of the country, I will exercise my constitutional and legal authority to preserve and cultivate political and civic unity and the Euro-Atlantic orientation of the state of Kosovo.

I’ve therefore decided to offer Mr. Kurti an additional 48-hours’ time to nominate a candidate for the next Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, before taking the next constitutional and legal action,” President Thaci explained in a post on Facebook after the meeting with Mr. Kurti.
