Following the signing ceremony of the railway agreement between Kosovo and Serbia, Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, said that this agreement is a strong message for peace and economic development.

In his pronouncement from Munich for the Radio Free Europe, President Thaci said that the agreements achieved recently can contribute positively in reaching the final agreement with Serbia.

In parallel, he reiterated his deep frustration with the failure of the EU in enabling visa-free travelling for Kosovo citizens. According to President Thaci, Kosovo is desperate and it feels betrayed by visa liberalization, although, as he puts it, he hopes that the EU will correct this strategic mistake and make a quick decision on this matter.

“We will focus on maintaining a lifelong partnership with the U.S.. The role of the U.S. is irreplaceable. By not taking its decision on visa liberalization for Kosovo the EU is making a strategic mistake and Kosovo feels very disappointed, depressed and betrayed by the EU. I want to hope that Mr. Borrell will make the right move and make this decision,” Thaci said.
