Muja: If there is no VV-LDK agreement, new elections will be held in May

Central Election Commission certified the results of the October 6 election on November 27, but there is still no agreement between Vetevendosje which came first, and LDK which came second.

The deal has stalled, as the LDK is insisting on getting the post of president, which is being rejected by the Vetevendosje. But there’s someone who’s optimistic on a coalition between the two parties.

Political analyst, Armend Muja thinks that coalition will happen soon.  According to him, quite soon there will be a constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo, as well.

“I think there will be a coalition between these two parties, and I’m saying this for a number of reasons, among other things, because there’s a need for Kosovo to approve the budget, accepted by the government on October 31, as at the end of February the government can stop its activities because there will be no means to function. I also think that the assembly will be constituted, and following its constitution parties will still have time to move on… I think that parties need to take time as long as they need, in order to finally come to a solution which, nevertheless, represents a change compared to the past governments.  These long discussions are not strange for me, as what’s important is that we, as voters and analysts, were against creation of a government just for filling the gap,  but we wanted a government that ‘has a clear mandate, a clear legitimacy,’” Muja says for KosovaPress.

Nevertheless, in his opinion, if the two parties fail to agree on a new government, new elections will be held in May.
