EU doesn’t support ‘the mini-Schengen’ initiative either

As an attempt for creation of a mini-Schengen within the Western Balkans, head of the European diplomacy, Josep Borell has refused participation in Tirana summit.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, his homologue from the Northern Macedonia Zoran Zaev, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic are holding a meeting in Tirana today, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina have ignored it, while the president of Montenegro joined them today. Chief of the European Diplomacy, Josep Borell will not attend the Western Balkans Summit in Tirana, whose main aim is creation of a Balkan Mini-Schengen, Zeri newspaper reports today.

Although this initiative was rejected in principle by the Kosovo authorities, as well as by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albanian Prime Minister Rama, Zajev of Northern Macedonia and Serbian president Vucic are attending the meeting. Vucic has previously said that he hoped that this initiative, in addition to Serbia, Albania and Northern Macedonia, would expand to other neighboring countries as well.
