The co-government agreement between Vetvendosje (VV) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has been finalized and signed today.

After more than 110 days of negotiations, these two political entities concluded an agreement for joint governance, Periskopi reports.

Leader of VV, Albin Kurti and of the LDK, Isa Mustafa, following signature of coalition agreement showed up in a press conference, this time as coalition partners.

In his addressing Kurti used the phrases already heard by the public, according to which they agreed with the LDK to meet tomorrow, as the new government will be voted tomorrow.

”We’re just a day away from the session of the Assembly, where we will elect the new government. Today we’ve met with the chairman of the LDK, Professor Isa Mustafa, and agreed to meet tomorrow in order to elect the government and bring to reality the major political change of October 6th. We’ve signed the agreement and we’ve agreed on everything, including the harmonization of the program. President Mustafa is to hold a meeting with the general council,”Kurti explained.

Mustafa on the other side said that he expects that the governance with Vetevendosje to be successful.

“We’ve reached an agreement and we think it’s a good agreement for the benefit of Kosovo and in favor of changes that must happen in our country. The agreement came as a result of understanding and working with Mr. Kurti and his associates. We’ve explored all the alternatives and came up with a solution in the interest of Kosovo. We expect to have a successful government which will realize expectations of its citizens,” Mustafa said.

Kurti meanwhile explained how many ministries will have the new government, and how will they be divided.

“The government will have 15 ministries, two deputy prime ministers and around 33 deputy ministers,” he said.

”We’ve realized that our intention for having 12 ministries was a fair decision. However, on the other hand, when analyzed the structure of each ministry, creation of few super-ministries proved to be more costly than having more than 12 ministries. If we didn’t do that then the process would drag on. For tomorrow’s session we’ve agreed that the speaker of the Assembly will be proposed by the LDK,” Kurti said.

“Mr. Konjufca will not resign, but will remain as part of the executive. We want to make a fivefold reform,” he added.

Otherwise, as Periskopi reported last night, for the post of president was singed a separate annex-agreement, which was not yet published.

Chairman of the LDK said that in the agreement signed today, the issue of the president remains to be defined later by the two sides.

“As far as the president is concerned, we’ve agreed that it will not be part of the agreement that was signed today. We will solve it when is indispensable, in the time when it will need to be solved,” Mustafa explained.

Otherwise, Vetevendosje and its candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, won the elections of October 6th, whereas the Democratic League of Kosovo came second, with Vjosa Osmani as its candidate for prime minister.
