The killing of former forest inspector in the Municipality of Pristina, Nazmi Rrustemaj, who was allegedly a Special Court’s witness, has triggered reactions in Serbia as well.

Deputy from the Serbian Progressive Party and a security expert, Zoran Dragisic, appealed to all the witnesses of the Special Court who live in Kosovo to leave the country.

According to Dragisic, Rustemaj’s killing represents a clear message for all those who will witness before The Hague in the future.

“All witnesses who’ve in the past testified against Haradinaj were killed. Nazim’s killing was a clear message to anyone who will testify against those who’ve committed war crimes. After that, it will be very difficult for the Special Court to declare the accused guilty,” he said for Kosovo-Online.

Until now it is not confirmed that Mr. Rrustemaj was the witness for the Special Court.

The Specialist Prosecutor’s Office in The Hague declared that the case is now in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office of Kosovo, without making further comments whether the victim was a witness or not.
