Even biggest LDK enthusiasts have lost belief in coalition with VV

Following the October 6th snap parliamentary elections, leaders of Vetevendosje, Albin Kurti, and of the LDK, Isa Mustafa, announced that 72 hours following the certification of the results by Central Election Commission would be enough for reaching an agreement on forming a ruling coalition.

“We will meet and accomplish our final agreement on the next governing coalition within 72 hours or within less than 100 hours,” Kurti said on 22 November.

It’s been a month since the certification of the parliamentary election results, and Kosovo is still politically deadlocked.

Regardless of numerous talks and meetings the LDK and Vetevendosje Movement failed to find a solution, which would enable the two parties to reach a coalition agreement, Periskopi reports.

“Nobody expected that they will elect Konjufca, they (VV) have thus closed all doors,” says a senior LDK official on conditions of anonymity.

“Vjosa Osmani and Lumir Abdixhiku, as the main supporters for achieving this coalition, have been cooled down following recent action of VV,” the source added.

In an interview for Pressing, LDK’s Vice-President, Vjosa Osmani, said that she tried, before the constitution of the Assembly, to speak with the deputies of VV, as they knew nothing about the proposal for the Speaker of the Assembly, but they refused to talk.

Otherwise, after yesterday’s meeting of the General Council of VV, Albin Kurti said that talks on reaching a coalition agreement with LDK will continue in January.  Yet, he added that the date for formation of the government is not determined by the president but by the LDK.

Isa Mustafa, on the other hand, has posted his respond to Kurti on Facebook, by saying that the LDK doesn’t set dates.

“LDK doesn’t set dates. Dates are set by the entity that won the elections, the one that receives the mandate to form the government,” he wrote.

According to Mustafa, the winning party is obliged to form the institutions, and the LDK thus has not blocked the constitution of the Assembly.
